The darkest studio in the Adult Time group, Pure Taboo makes no attempt to be comfortable viewing, and that is deliberate. The premises deal in manipulation, coercion framing and power imbalance, played dead straight instead of for laughs, which puts it a long way from the jokey step-family sites filling the rest of the industry. Production is cinematic, gritty and film-like, with top performers taking their most challenging roles, and it has the AVN awards to show for scenes like The Ghost Rocket. As an Adult Time studio, €19.95 a month streaming opens the whole platform. For viewers who want taboo treated seriously as drama, this is the standard-setter, but anyone after light or playful content should stay well clear.
